Really, if someone refers to a fetus as pre-born… there is not use talking to them.

My OB has referred to a fetus as a parasite….she uses it as a way to explain that even though I’ve gained 1 pound in 26 weeks (compared to 16-22 pounds), the fetus is still getting everything she needs to grow and develop. Just because someone is pregnant doesn’t mean science goes out the window.

Florida Assistant State Attorney Brian Workman has offered Kate a terrible choice: accept a deal that could brand her a criminal for life, or face a trial and possible jail time.

I did my research, damn it. The age of consent in Florida is 17. Not 15. Therefore there is not a damn thing wrong with this woman (because sh is a grown adult) going to jail for statutory rape. Stop making a legitimate crime into an attack on gay rights. (Are the actions of the 15-year-old’s parents fucked up? Yes. Are they illegitimate? Fuck no.)
Did you also do your research on how many teenagers in Florida supposedly end up behind bars because they have sex before they’re 17, even with an older partner? No, I very much doubt you have. If the law were uniformly applied in as draconian a way as it is in this case, Florida’s prisons would be stuffed full of young people, because let’s be fucking serious. How many people wait until they’re 17 in order to be sexually active, law or no?
Also, this is what a law firm has to say about Florida’s statutory rape laws:
‘Statutory rape in Florida makes sexual activity illegal when a person is 24 years of age or older and engages in a sexual act with a person who is 16 or 17 years of age. This means that an individual who is under age of 24 and has a sexual relationship with someone 16 or 17, it is not considered a crime. The law in this area has changed considerably over the years. Today in Florida for one to be charged with statutory rape which means that consent is not a permitted defense the defendant must be 24 years of age or older and the age of the victim must be 17 years or younger.’

Or that once you hit a certain month in your pregnancy, you have no chance of being hired anywhere.
That most states don’t offer maternity pay/leave.
